The Holy Protection Church in Dzerzhinsk was built in the middle of the XIX century to strengthen the Orthodox faith. The temple appeared in the center of the mountain, on which a wooden shrine stood for a long time.
The temple in Koidanovo (Dzerzhinsk) described Vladislav Syrokomlya in his travel essays “Wandering around my surroundings”, since this church surprised him with its beauty.
The temple was closed in 1936 on the orders of the Bolsheviks, but with the arrival of the Germans, the services were resumed here. Since then, the church has not stopped working.
Not far from Dzerzhinsk is buried a local saint of the Belorussian Orthodox Church, prophetess Valentina Minskaya, she is especially revered in the Dzerzhinsky church.
The Church of the Intercession is also known for the fact that in 2005 icons and crosses began to melt here. Since then many pilgrims come to the temple.
