The design of the museum hall in the blue color scheme was made by the artists of the Minsk Artistic Combine. One of the oldest original exhibits is the book of the French socialist Pierre Briiso “The History of Labor and Workers”, published in 1921 in Russian translation. This is a book about the struggle of the Lyons weavers, about the conditions of their life and work, about the requirements that they presented to their employers. Nearby are archival copies of the “Charter” of 1906 and the “Report of the Board” of 1908 of the Vitebsk Professional Society of bristles, which tell about the union of bristle workers, unique for Russia and for Europe. The fact is that the bristles that were produced in the Northwest Territory of the Russian Empire on the world market were beyond competition. And the bristle worker’s work, 100% manual, was very heavy. “The bristles pulled from the hides were separated from the debris. We sorted by hardness, sorted by color and length … The measurements were taken up to 200 movements per minute! “At that, the bristles worked in close, dark and dusty rooms for 16-18 hours of the working day. Those who did not want to put up with their position, they began to unite, organize strikes and, in their prolonged joint confrontation, the masters managed to achieve a 9-hour working day and “increase the earnings of the craft in 20 years by 5-6 times!”
