The Museum of Belarusian Folk Art was opened on December 12, 1979, 20 kilometers from Minsk. It is located in the former Krestogorsky church (built in 1862), in a picturesque place on the territory of the Olympic sports complex Raubichi. The written monuments that have survived to this day tell us about the unusual situation that contributed to the fact that this place became very popular among local of the inhabitants. According to the legend, the reason for the construction of the first temple, dating from 1650, was the emergence of a local image of the icon of the Mother of God, which defended the local nobleman Lukas Halavyu during a terrible thunderstorm.
