Despite its name, the Minsk Regional Museum is in Molodechno. It was created in 1959, when Molodechno Oblast existed, and Molodechno regional museum of local lore was named. In 1960, when the area was disbanded, the museum received its modern name. Since September 30, 2011 the permanent exhibition “History of the Minsk region from ancient times to the beginning of the 20th century” has been working in the museum. It is located on an area of 175 sq.m. It shows about two thousand exhibits. – This was an uneasy and ambitious task, – says the museum director Taisia Lenkevich. – We were supposed to show a significant historical period in a small hall. In this exposition you can see a lot of items that were not previously exhibited or rarely shown. The main feature of the museum, which is celebrated by all visitors, is the decoration of the hall. The combination of traditional and non-traditional design of showcases, their color solution, lighting features and four-meter banners create a special emotional background of the exposition. Thanks to this architectural and artistic solution, the exposition does not look oversaturated, it has a taste and sense of proportion.
