The museum was founded in 1924. Here there were departments of animals, plants, forests, field cropping, industry, but the richest was considered a collection of minerals, numbering about 500 items.
During the years of the Nazi occupation, the museum building was destroyed, and the exhibits were plundered, so it was necessary to recreate the collection bit by bit. Today, the exposition of the Bobruisk Museum of Local History makes it possible to conduct excursions on the history of not only the city, but all of Belarus. The oldest exhibits of the collection are numerous finds of the Bronze Age period, as well as the Roman coin of the first millennium beginning with the image of the Emperor Marcus Aurelius, discovered during the excavations of the ancient settlement in the district of Dednevo.
Pay attention to the two layouts presented in the exposition: the first in the descriptions of city inventory recreated Bobruisk in the 17th century, the second represents a fragment of the fortress, which it was in the 30-50s of the nineteenth century. Here you will see a symbolic key from the citadel, which the Napoleonic generals did not wait in 1812.
Opening hours of the museum: from 10.00 to 18.00, weekends – Monday, Tuesday.
