Destroyed estates store many secrets, besides, beside them everyone feels the spirit of history and former greatness. A special place in the list of manors and manor complexes of Belarus is occupied by buildings that once belonged to the Radziwill family.
Next to the Zhirmuns of the Voronovsky District, where there is a wooden church of the Finding of the Holy Cross, there are “small” Zhirmuny (now the place is called Velikoye Selo), which are known for the abandoned estate of the Radziwills.
This place belonged to many famous families: Zavishi, Radziwilli, Tyszkiewicz, Zarzecki, Schwanebacho, Drutsky-Lyubetskie, Elsky, but the heyday came precisely at the time when this place belonged to the Radziwills – the beginning of the 18th century.
The construction of the estate took place in the 70-80s of the 18th century, when the estate was inherited by Prince Stanislav Radziwill. The process of erecting the residence was supervised by the architect Jan Pecun-Podchashinsky. It was planned that the estate complex should include a palace, two outbuildings, entrance gates, apartment houses and outbuildings. During the life of Stanislaus Radziwill, the palace was not built, and the heirs did not want to further implement the project.
For the entrance gate opposite each other there were two two-story rectangular wings. And if the northern building inside was modestly furnished, then the southern wing, differed rich interior: a variety of stucco moldings, marble fireplaces, wooden ornaments.
In the wings were located kitchens, bakeries, a library, a greenhouse, a chapel and much more. Today, like many other ruined manors of the building are in a deplorable state.
From the right wing, almost nothing left, but the left is preserved a little better. Entry brama was also badly affected by time.
Other estates of the Radziwills, to which you should pay attention: the Radziwill Manor in the village of Polonechka, Mir Castle (Ilinich and Radziwill), the Radziwills Palace in Nesvizh.
