The Minsk Main Post Office is a building in Minsk, located at: Nezavisimosti Avenue, 10. Architectural monument, built in 1949-1953 (architect V. Karol).
It consists of two interconnected volumes – the main four-storeyed, P-shaped in plan, set along the red line of Independence Avenue, and attached to it from the rear (round in plan, in the form of a rotunda with a dome, diameter 30 m), where a large operational Hall. The main facade of the building, oriented to Independence Avenue, is symmetrical. Located throughout the facade of the column of the great Corinthian order, massive forms of the central arch of the entrance with pylons, which extends from the plane of the facade, the high attic gives the building a monumental character. In decoration of facades and interiors natural stone, high-quality plaster, stucco details, stained-glass windows with images of monuments of architecture of Belarus (1980, V. Poznyak) were used.
The building is a typical example of the use of elements of classical heritage in the architecture of Belarus 1940-1950-ies.
