Glacier boulder “The Stone of Love” is a geological monument of nature of national importance (1992).
It is located 2 km to the east of Volovshchina village in the forest on the moraine ridge (8 km to the south of Zaslavl and to the east of the Zaslavl-Dzerzhinsk highway). The length of the visible part of the stone is 4.6 m, width – 3.4 m, height – 1.1 m, weight – about 22 tons. According to researchers, usually on the surface of large stones, only one-fifth of what is hidden in the ground is visible. Most likely, the full volume of this stone reaches 53 m3, and the weight – not less than 140 tons. Boulder brought about 150 thousands years from the Baltic Shield in Scandinavia during the penultimate global glaciation.
Boulder is called the “Stone of Love”. Perhaps it had a cult significance and was an altar, and in this place there was a pagan temple.
